Captaine, Balmain Eyewear’s premiere Aviator style, clearly builds upon the spirit of some of Olivier Rousteing’s most essential collections—those that channel the spirit of bold nomads, daring pilots and intrepid explorers. While it may be riffing on one of the most traditional of frame styles, the Captaine definitely shakes things up a bit by omitting the nose bridge and adding two small golden discs stamped with the Balmain monogram to the oversized lenses. Color choices reflect Balmain’s distinctive DNA, with signature gold, blue and brown tones paired with Japanese acetate. Akoni’s craftsmen have relied on striking tortoise-shell, bone and cracked-leather treatments, allowing each distinct Capitaine option to recall a key Balmain runway moment and helping to make this one of the favorite choices for Balmain’s many celebrity followers.
